The Receptionist is a minor character in the games Nocturne and Blair Witch Volume I: Rustin Parr.

She is a secretary of Spookhouse, a secret government agency that protects the United States from supernatural threats domestically and all around the world.

Appearance[]

In Nocturne, she is a young woman with short brunette hair, fair skin and wearing red lipstick. She wears a slightly unbuttoned gray shirt and a matching gray hat.

In Blair Witch Vol. 1 her appearance is mostly unchanged. Her hair is loose and slightly longer, she wears a slightly unbuttoned white shirt, and black-rimmed reading glasses.

Personality[]

She‘s mostly a quiet and reserved person. She will occasionally engage in small talk with whoever comes into her mock office to gain entry through the secret door to Spookhouse. She doesn’t enjoy sitting in the tiny and barren space all day but is dedicated to her job despite the dull nature of it as she is the first line of defense for the agency. Despite her mostly monotone voice and unexciting surroundings, she’s quite friendly.

History[]

Just about nothing is known about her background or even her name. Nonetheless, she has been diligently doing her job at her lonely desk for 15 years and possibly longer. Not quite capable, or willing, of taking on the full responsibilities of a Spookhouse agent, the Secretary serves to welcome agents and open the secret door for them. Her most important purpose is to occupy the false office that serves as a front for the hidden headquarters, to prevent any unwanted attention from befalling the agency. She will only grant access to members if they recite the secret password to her directly by saying, “The world is a dark place“, to which she responds, “Who will protect the world from darkness,” and the final phrase from the person wanting access must be, “We will.” She will then proceed to open a drawer and flip the switch to open the secret door.

In 1942 The Stranger finds Spookhouse HQ infiltrated and its members killed, including her.
